Wigs, oh Wigs! Feat. Hairbro

You may not know but there is a reason I keep my hair short. I like have unnatural, bright and pastel hair colours and bleach it far too often. What's good about keeping it short is that I can constantly cut the damaged hair off and start again, and say if it's gets too damaged I can always shave it all off and start again.

Part of me would love to have long hair. Long gorgeous brown hair with an ombre. That's what I love, and that's what I can have with my wigs. I have quite a few wigs, that I'm not often seen wearing them in blog posts but frequently wear out of the house. I see hair as accessorising, you can have multiple colours to match your handbags and shoes. I have two favourites at the moment, one medium length warm brown and ombre wig which I wore a lot when I shaved my head, and the second is a newer addition. A beautiful shoulder length naturally wavy ashy iced brunette wig with an ashy ombre. So yummy!

Hairbro hair replacement systems have an amazing assortment of remy human hair wigs, and so many to choose from on their website. They also offer men's hair replacement treatments too which look really good, especially if you don't want to go down the cosmetic route. All three of these wigs are made from human hair which means you can wash and style them as you would do your own hair. They have such a vast selection to pick from, and I did um-and-ah for quite a while but had to narrow my favourite down to this Lauren Conrad wavy wig. The Katy Perry purple one however is absolutely stunning and might need to be the next in my collection!
Hairbro's hair replacement system is fantastic, not only do they let you pick your wig and colour, you can choose the density and how much grey hair is included. When you place your order all your details are kept on file as a preference for your next order, and as the wig is made they keep you updated with photos of your product to ensure you are happy with the service at all times. This means that rather than buying a standard wig off eBay and taking a risk as to what it might look like, you can always be happy with your product from a hair replacement specialist.

What do you think of wigs, and their hair replacement system? Isn't it a great idea?

Buying clothes for young kids - things we have learnt

Buying clothes and shoes for your young children is loads of fun! You can dress them in the most adorable things like candy striped dungarees, soft bear-eared onesies and bite-sized trainers. But before we start loading our baskets full of cute outfits, we parents have to remind ourselves to be practical. Buying clothes for kids is an ongoing expense because they grow out of them so quickly. We also need to bear in mind that the clothes need to fit, be comfortable and be tough enough to withstand the yoghurt spills and  juice splashes that happen on a daily basis.

We have learnt a few things along the way that now help me to buy clothes and shoes for my child that are cute, comfy and kind to my budget.

  • Think “quality” first and foremost

A child’s skin is very delicate and sensitive and so I’ve learnt that it’s important to buy good quality garments. This is because these items are unlikely to contain materials that will irritate. But buying quality doesn’t mean spending a fortune. Brands like Bisgaard sell kids shoes that are made from high-quality durable and comfortable materials for a reasonable price. And trusty department stores like Marks and Spencers sell quality children’s clothing made from 100% cotton that won’t blow your budget.

  • Always find out about the returns policy!

When you are buying online or in store, it is always a good idea to find out about the returns policy before you purchase. Every child grows at a different rate, and although the items may advertise themselves as suitable for your child’s age group, that doesn’t mean they will always fit. Most retailers have around a two-week return policy. However, if you are buying online or purchasing a special offer or sale item, do pay careful attention because the rules may be different.

  • If in doubt, buy bigger

It’s upsetting and pretty inconvenient when you come home with the most beautiful outfit only to find it’s too tight on your little one. If you find yourself holding up two sizes for the same outfit, I’ve learnt that you should always put the bigger one in your shopping basket. If it’s too big for your child just not, they will grow into it in the near future. And, when clothes are a little loose, it makes it more comfortable when your child is being active.

  • Avoid awkward-to-open clothing

Clothes that tie with ribbons, fiddly buttons or toggles may look cute but they are a real pain in the neck when changing your child through the day. This often leads to a very impatient Mummy and child. My advice is to opt for items that are easy to open and close. I find pop buttons and zips to be the most hassle-free fasteners on children’s clothing.

Thank you for reading this post on the things we have learnt from buying kids’ clothing. If you have any information to add, I’d be very pleased to read about it.

Have a great day!

Preparing for a child's birthday party

Children’s birthday parties are a fun and exciting time for all. The kids get to look forward to the magic and mystery of what each birthday holds. Meanwhile, the parents get to look forward to the joy and excitement they can bring their children. It’s worth noting though that kid’s birthday parties need a lot of planning and a lot of work. You can just wake up the day of and decide you’re going to throw a party.

You need to plan everything down to the last detail. And until your child’s a little older you might have to do the lion’s share of this planning yourself. Whether you’re planning for your kids 1st birthday or 11th birthday, there’s still a lot of work involved. Let’s have a look at the elements you’ll need to consider when planning the party.

Gifts
First up, give some thought to the kind of gift or gifts you’re going to get for your child. Of course, the age of your kid is going to play a role in the decision-making process. If your child is an infant, you might just get them something practical like clothes. Or maybe a mobile for their crib. But if they’re older they may have began to develop hobbies and interests. If they’re into something fun like magic, you might want to think outside the box and buy a gift from a magic shop. A visit to http://www.magicnevin.com/ will provide you with an excellent selection of ideas. You need to make a decision about the type of gifts you’re going to buy for your children. How many will you buy? How much will you spend? You need to get this bit right because it’s going to form expectations and opinions for your child from a young age.

Food
Next up, you need to give some thought to the type of food you’re going to have. Again, this will be influenced by the age group of the children. But if you head to the supermarket you’ll find many have entire sections dedicated to children’s parties. Here you should have no problems finding plenty of party food. You want to provide buffet type snacks that the children will enjoy. Try to sneak a few healthy things in there too, like carrot sticks and fresh fruit. You also need to give some thought to the cake and what type of cake you’re going to provide. It should be appealing in a visual sense, as well as tasting great.

Entertainment
Now, one of the most important parts of planning the party, and something you might overlook, is the entertainment. It has to be age appropriate, of course. And it most likely needs to appeal to both boys and girls. You’ll have two options with regards to entertainment. Number one, at home entertainment. This is where you hire somebody like a clown, magician, or a bouncy castle to come to the house and entertain the kids. And the second type of entertainment you have is where you take the group out. If you’re going out for entertainment, you may need to consult the parents of the children attending. Don’t forget, you’re going to be responsible for a whole bunch of kids!

These are just three of the most important aspects of planning a kids birthday party. There’s a lot more to think about of course, but this should get you started. Don’t be afraid to ask friends and family for help with the planning too!
